Geography of Heart: Australia is a contemporary Australian map art piece that places Australia at the centre of a heart-shaped world. Created using the Bonne projection and generated through 1,000-kilometre distance intervals, the work reframes Australia’s position within the Pacific, highlighting connections across East Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.

The surrounding field of concentric textures recalls the rhythms of Country—echoing landforms, water, growth, and movement across the landscape. Combining cartography with painterly surfaces and relief-like textures, the artwork transforms measured distance into an expression of belonging, inviting viewers to reflect on Australia’s place in the world and their own geography of connection.
